Using the data

Take it. Query the API, script against it, put the numbers in a dashboard or a report. Attribution is appreciated but not demanded. The underlying lifecycle dates aren't ours to license anyway. They're published by vendors, and parts of the dataset derive from openly licensed public sources whose licenses we pass along unchanged.

One request: if you're hitting the API on a schedule, cache the response. Everything rebuilds once a day, so polling more often than that only costs you latency.

Accuracy

We work hard to keep these dates right. Collectors fail loudly rather than guess, month-precision dates stay month-precision, and every product page names its source. That's not the same as a guarantee. Vendors change schedules, extend support, retract announcements, and occasionally publish data that contradicts their own release notes. We've found cases where a vendor's machine-readable file disagreed with the vendor's own announcement.

So: the site is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. Don't make a decision that matters on a date from here without confirming it against the vendor. Every page links to the source precisely so you can.

This is not security advice

A CVE count tells you how many vulnerabilities were disclosed after a branch stopped receiving patches. It does not tell you whether your deployment is exploitable. That depends on your configuration, your network, what you've backported, and what your distribution's maintainers did on your behalf. Treat the numbers as a prompt to investigate, not a verdict.

Availability

No uptime commitment. It's a static site on a CDN, so it's usually fine, but pages and endpoints can change or disappear without notice. If you depend on an API response shape, pin to /api/v1/. A breaking change means a new version path, not a silent edit.
